The slab is a multi use bean bag: Lay it flat and it’s a large floor cushion, on it’s side it becomes a hammock seat, or prop it against the wall and you’ve got a chair.  The leatherette fabric is anti-microbial and flame retardant to the British Standards for school/educational environments. They are very robust and are water, urine and stain resistant.
